FAQs

Why should I hire an interior designer?
Hiring a designer can help you to avoid costly mistakes that will not only help you save money, but can increase the value of your home. We can give you a professional assessment of your situation, that will will lead to a solid plan of action. The order of things in a design plan is key. This will not only effect the budget but help you to spend it more efficiently. We offer an extra set of eyes, but we are trained to spatially think differently and to see an overall picture that clients often cannot. We can help to give you the “wow” factor you’ve been looking for. A designer can keep you on budget and save you time and effort. We know where to go for resources for everything related to your home. This will save you endless amounts of time researching products, brands and prices. We will have all this readily on hand, and if we don't, we will spend the time researching so that you don’t have to. We also build a stronger bridge between you and your architect or contractor early on and can catch design misses in your overall plan. This is crucial in managing time and money.

How much do you charge?
Every project varies in size and scope, so we bill on an hourly rate. We believe this keeps you in the driver seat of how much or how little you want to be involved. We will give you an estimated amount of hours to complete your project and take a retainer to get the design work started. We understand it's a financial investment, but our fees are generally a fraction of the overall cost of your project.

Do you offer complimentary consultations?
We offer a complimentary phone call to see if we are a great fit for your project and to answer any initial questions you may have, but our first on-site consultation is billed hourly. These are working consultations. We are taking measurements, giving advice and suggestions and already scheming how to make your dream home a reality.

Do you have contractors that you recommend?
Yes we do. We have a great relationship with a few contractors and subcontractors that we have worked with and would highly recommend. If you have a contractor or subcontractor that you want to use, we will gladly work with them as well.

Can you prepare construction documents?
Yes, we can help prepare a majority of the construction documents such as floor plans, lighting plans, millwork details, elevation details, site plan etc. If there are structural, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC drawings required, then those would be out of our scope of work and would need to be designed and orchestrated by the specific trade or with a contractor.
Is there a contract?
Yes, we have a letter of agreement that is signed before any design work begins. It spells out the design process in detail, payment fee schedule, responsibilities of each party, as well as the scope of the job. We believe to have a truly successful project, it starts with making sure everyone is on the same page and expectations are clearly communicated from the very beginning.
